Another beautifully written, highly inventive novel in Miéville's extraordinary Bas-Lag world. A story of revolution, told over years, with strong plot and character development suddenly paying off in the last third of the book. This is the third of Miéville's Bas-Lag novels; although each has different characters and a different plot, the world-building and events, especially from Perdido Street Station (the first book), echo here.

Classified as fantasy, but contains weird, steampunk, or Lovecraftian elements.

Another wonderfully weird book by China Mieville. It does require some more suspension of disbelief, but there are beautiful lessons about activism and clinging to a shred of hope despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. At times you'll want to DNF because you're like, where is this train even going? But that's the whole point exactly.
