Very cute! I liked how the author wove together elements of myths and legends from many cultures and traditions. The art was fantastic, too.

While I tend toward more serious graphic novels, this title fell more toward the comic end of the spectrum. The characters were charming, the composition of many of the panels felt very fresh and interesting, and I appreciated Towle's break down at the end of the book of some of the true historical elements of this otherwise fictional story.

I really loved this. The art was fun, the dialogue was smooth and the story was a great blend of historical and fantasy.

I enjoyed the art and the story was entertaining, though the characters seemed flat. It’s difficult to root for the main character, formerly a soldier for the Confederacy, who plays like a lesser Army Shanks.

cute. My favorite characters are the messenger seagull (complete with aviator cap!) and the cook/most effective human around. Also: angry selkie. Good stuff.
