Distasteful and dehumanizing. Couldn’t finish. This book placed a cheap thriller in a very real and horrific place. I read about 100 pages and then put it in the recycling bin because the disrespectful way the characters with disabilities in Willowbrook were being written about was literally making me cringe. I never write reviews but really felt compelled with this one because it was SO BAD.

This story was interesting, but became increasing implausible. You didn't have much time to understand Sage as a character before she was kidnapped and her whole life became an escape from the facility. I also didn't like how the murderer ended up being a patient and the institution, and the savior was the healthy protagonist. I think that an attempt to humanize the residents was made, but was not successful

This book scared the snot out of me! It’s literally the stuff of nightmares. Interesting, well-written, and most certainly terrifying.
