Three stars for the urban fantasy, 5 stars for being a Christmas themed Fantasy, so 4 stars overall rating from me.

I quite liked Noel and his backstory - being Santa's second son, so feeling quite useless at the north pole. So what are you gonna do? You move somewhere else and try to do your own thing. And what can you do with just a dash of magic and no specific job skills? Why not trying to be a PI!

The actual mystery part was fine, though it didn't feel like solving a puzzle, but instead just the main character having an unexplained light bulb moment or if no where. So the actual crime bit could have been smoothed out a bit. The way people fall into line to help was a bit convenient too, but at least explained by Christmas magic.

Which brings me to the magic, which also felt a bit shaped just to fit the story instead of like a well developed part of the world building.

All in all it was an entertaining and fun story, that combined some magical sparkles with quite some bodies and a hat dripping red from blood, which kept me reading it now or less in one go!
