A film director has hijacked the castle! A wide range of wacky characters are auditioning to be included in the upcoming film, and it is up to our heroic knight to set things right!

While there are certainly examples of many different kinds of characters in this story, there is almost no instructional content. The series now focuses almost completely on the silly hijinks of a now-familiar cast.

This plotline includes a Mash-O-Matic, a mad scientist’s creation which “combines two things into one!” This machine alludes to aspiring comics creator’s ability to create new mash-up characters (a clown-a-clops, for example), but the Magic Cartooning Elf (the instructional voice of the series) doesn’t appear until page 48. The story is unpredictable and silly, however, and readers will enjoy this romp in storytelling.

The simple illustrations are engaging and in full-color, and many kids will pick it up just because of its fun cover. Like previous titles in the series, this will be a great graphic novel for any kid with even a vague interest in creating comics, and probably those who don’t have such aspirations as well.
