I think I may have read some of these before but the whole thing is definitely pretty and somewhat melancholy - The Iron Gate and The Rescue were my favorites. Though holy shit, Polaris was sad.

Best volume so far. It feels like the series has really hit its stride with this one.

I didn't like each individual story in this collection as much as I did in the first two, but still beautiful artwork and some very powerful stories.

Beautiful illustration as always. This one had more darker stories that were sort of unsettling. Overall, still a great volume!

This seemed darker than the others. Still some really great stories!

The two things that really seem to standout for me in these graphic novel anthologies are that 1) The artwork for pretty much all of the short stories is super, super pretty. (Even the cover art is stunning for all of the volumes, particularly this one. It's my favourite out of all of them, I think.) And 2) Most of the stories are super weird and/or confusing. Quite a few of them are rather hard to follow and have unsatisfying endings. I noticed that especially in this volume, which made me like it a little less. I am still really enjoying reading this series though, as it's nice getting to experience so many different stories from a bunch of different artists. My favourites from this volume are "Hunter" by Johane Matte, "The Iron Gate" by Kazu Kibuishi, "Message in a Bottle" by Rodolphe Guenoden, and "Tea" by Reagan Lodge.

Another 4/5 stars, and I am, as always, excited to read the next volume!

Hmmm. I was excited to read another volume of Flight, but I was a bit disappointed. The stories had a kind of sameness to them (animals on quests, monsters, death) and the theme of flight wasn't quite as well executed as in the first volume. The quality was patchy too, with some stories clearly dashed off quickly and roughly. I was also disappointed that more female artists weren't featured; there are plenty out there: Raina Telgemeier, Hope Larson, Vera Brosgol. Enough with the sausage fest! I didn't really have a favourite story this time, although Kazu Kibuishi's 'The Iron Gate' was deeply memorable for being so chilling in its depiction of the intergenerational nature of conflict. I also liked the twist at the end of 'Message in a Bottle' and found 'So Far, So Close' to be a sweet depiction of two strangers' silent encounter.

This was a strange collection of stories. Some were whimsical, some were dark, but all of these were gorgeous. No clue as to why they call it Flight, but this was a beautiful collection of stories.

Some of these stories were a huge hit with me- I'm looking at you, Rodolphe Guenoden- and others flopped, but all in all, I loved this.

This book is a beautiful collection of wonderful short stories in graphic form. Most of them have to do with flight in some way.
All of them were good. Some were better than others. There were funny stories, poignant ones, engaging ones... there were one or two that were just weird, in my opinion, and I didn't quite get them. (They were still pretty good, though.)
The art is fantastic--the range of styles, colors, moods, and so on.

I think my favorite stories were the ones without words. They seem to have more emotion, and felt easier to relate to.
My absolute favorite was "The Cloud". Close up were "The Underworld" and "Ad Astra". All of the stories in here are original and striking, but those three caught my attention the most.
I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading the other collections. I think there's something in here for everyone.
