Lincoln's speeches are a true marvel - well written, passionate and driven by a high sense of justice. A great read for those interested in the American civil war or those interested in great orators. My only two criticisms are that some of these speeches drag on and that many of the logistics and/or dramas Lincoln refers to no longer bear the same weight they once did.

I had to learn this in 6th grade and wanted to refresh my memory. I love the story behind the writing of the Gettysburg address. It should be reread and studied by all Americans.

Passing through Gettysburg so I thought I’d read this! (Only read the transcript not the illustrated version) It’s actually incredibly short. But very potent and poetic !
