When I first started reading this series a few years ago I made a stupid comment about how Shan was making it into a big good guys vs. bad guys showdown, but I should have known better. Overall, this was a fun conclusion to a great YA series you can get through so quickly. I would give it to kids to read as it teaches a lot of valuable lessons without being didactic (B's arc alone is amazing) and it has a bizarre yet engaging plot.

'Goddess' brings the story of 'Zom-B' to an end.

A decade on from first reading it but never getting to the ending, that ending hits fairly hard. The character of B Smith is one that I love a lot more now than I ever did.

The series has flaws, mostly in its plot. But it has a lot of strengths too: the arc of a reformed bigot, the moral heart of the story being to never stand for any atrocity, no matter how big or small and to keep pushing to the bitter end.

It hits some snags and at times it is more style than substance, but 'Zom-B' is a great story and I really appreciate what Darren Shan did here.

I have no words right now... I wish this series didn't have to end... what will I read now?

I'll come back and right a proper review when my brain has calmed down.

PS: I love Holy Moly <3

"You're a goddess," Dr. Oystein says softly. "You will bring death to this world, as many gods and goddesses of legend did."

This was a bitter sweet end. On one had, I'm glad I got this far, reading all of these stories with B and her friends and odd people she met, but I'm not sure this was quite the ending I had envisioned so many books ago.

I will expand more tomorrow
