I read the 'cold room' book in this seires first. So i had hoped that this one would be JUSt as awesome..... It was not. There I felt was TOO much character development and not enough story. There was also a very large number of characters to keep track of... I ended up using a notebook.

I will read other books in this series as just dismiss this as a 'bad first book'

I don't know if I got this during some kind of kindle promotional thing or not, because I apparently bought it months and months ago and never read it.

I really liked it! All of the characters are very well rounded, even most of the murder victims...which was a little depressing, because I was hoping that at least one of them would make it.

I enjoyed the way all of the threads came back together in the end. I also liked that there were other cases going on. A lot of the time in these sorts of books, that's not the case. Even the side characters made you want to see more of them. It was also refreshing that the relationship between Taylor and Baldwin was already in progress. It added to the story, yes, but it wasn't the focus of it. And their courtship was already over, their relationship forged in the heat of a previous investigation. I liked it because most series like this start at the beginning. But it did make me take the time to check that I hadn't read the wrong book first - I hate reading things out of order!

I'm going to have to see if they have these at the library because I really want to read the next one, but I know I feel that way about a lot of books and I'm trying to be financially responsible. We'll see how long that lasts!

This was a little slow for me with a lot of side story that didn’t add much to the thriller part of the book. It has a satisfying ending but it was a bit predictable. Not super into any of the characters which always hurts my ratings.

A nice police procédurales with a spunky heroine and a leveled headed FBI profiler:they are a couple. There was not much profiling happening, which I would have enjoyed more. The ending dragged on a bit as well and I had long guessed who the culprit was. But overall not a bad story even if it had the potential to be better.

This was a good book with all the right characters. The plot was always twisting and I didn't figure out the killer just slightly before they did. I will have to read the next one.

3.5 stars. Definitely has the feeling of a first book, but I’m excited to see where this series goes. I hope the author backs off on the main detective being “not like the other girls” (they mention multiple times that she can eat for days and never gain a pound!) and shows some of the sexism that women in policing face, instead of all the men falling all over themselves to praise her.

The ending was good, but I had a hard time staying interested in the story.

Don't know how I'm so late to the party when I love Dr. Samantha Owens! Taylor is equally amazing and I can't wait to get into the other books.

This books contains a lot of rape, but luckily for us who hate that, it's not written out. It's just mentioned.

Murder is also a big part of this book as well. But again, it is done tastefully
