I actually feel a little bad for giving this only 2 stars. It wasn't that bad, but just not for me. I can see why other people would love this and maybe I didn't pay enough attention to get things right.

I didn't really care about the characters and was mostly confused because either I didn't read it properly, or there weren't enough explanations. The long chapters (there were only 3 and a prologue, if I remember correctly) were VERY long and took me forever to read, which was frustrating and a bit annoying.

You should still give it a chance because it's different! It's not your typical angel book and there are lots of action scenes and science fiction elements that are very interesting!

Books that have angels in them are usually really not my thing. I think I maybe only like two books that have angels in them. I decided to read this book because the author had send me a review request and Jennifer from Book Bird Reviews thought I might like it. And guess what? I ended up really liking Eventide, which came as a bit of a surprise to me. It was something new and different.

When I started reading this book I was a bit confused as to what in the world was going on. I guess I just didn't catch on that quickly but once I got more into the story I was getting really invested in it. The author's writing style was a big part of that. The writing was really amazing in my opinion. Descriptive and detailed but not to the point that it was getting boring, not at all. I loved it.

Basically there are two main characters in one body; Lucius and the angel, Sepherene that's within him. Sepherene is on a mission to redeem herself by hunting down fallen angels. I really liked this storyline. It also had lots of action and the end was a bit of a shocker.

With 78 pages the story is rather on the short side, but it's not so short that there wasn't enough character and world building (which is a pretty big deal to me with books). I felt that the lenght of the book was just right and the ending has definitely left me with wanting more.

The thing about Eventide is that it isn't your typical angel book. It's fantasy but it also has a lot of science fiction elements. I just loved that. It's pretty much a whole new world to discover and from what I've read so far, I'm liking it a lot. I'd definitely recommend this story!

Usually I don't have much luck with angel books besides Thomas E. Sniegoski's The Fallen novels and Lauren Kate's Fallen novels. Eventide is now the best angel story I've ever read. It mixes fantasy and sci-fi together to create a new and fantastic setting.
Lucius Gavalas has an angel inside of him, Sepherene, who is out to put an end to other fallen angels believing that she will be accepted back if she succeeds. Lucius is the poor soul who ends up having his body used as Sepherene fights the fallen and he has the scars to prove it. We don't learn a lot about him in this book but what we do is that he's a haunted man and he's fought addiction, using to dull the pain of his past.
I really enjoyed Eventide. This is the first story I've read from Beazley and it won't be the last. The writing is smooth and the action scenes wonderfully detailed. This is a short read and ends on a bit of a cliffhanger but I wasn't upset by that, it worked with what was happening.
So, if you're into sci-fi, fantasy or a good angel story this is the book for you.
