Easy read. Good for a plane or car ride or while at the beach. Can read over a long period of time.

This was enjoyable since it involved a class taught on the three great ladies of mystery (Agatha Christie, Dorothy Sayers and Mary Roberts Rinehart). It would have been better if it had actually focused on that instead of the mystery. The plotting and clue providing were decent and helped contribute to me giving it a 3 star rating. This isn't a series that I'll continue though as I really don't enjoy Annie, the main character. In fact, once I started reading this book I remembered that I had read another in the series and had not continued because she was just so irritating. Hard to pinpoint what it is, but she just isn't somebody I'd want to spend time with. Loved the three older ladies channeling their favorite authors though - especially Henny.

I think it's time for a break from this series. I find myself often annoyed by the regular characters and I've noticed a trend that makes it all too easy to identify the killer in each book. So far in the series, at least. I'm hoping that in later books Hart changes things up and makes it a bit more of a challenge for the reader.

This was just ok. I was extremely irritated with Dora, Henny, and Laruel. They kept taking over her class and were incredibly rude. The idea that the editor, Brad, was behind it the whole time was unexpected and an interesting twist. I could not believe he was so mercenary. The mystery was enjoyable, but the getting there because of having to fight through all the extras, courtesy of the three rude women, took away from the story. I am starting to get very irritated with Henny and Laurel, to the point where the are making the stories not worth the read and I am considering stopping the series.

Annie Laurance Darling gets to take her show on the road... or at least on campus. She's settling into work one day when a man barges in. Impressed by her knowledge of mysteries, he asks her to fill in as an adjunct professor. Annie is delighted and decides a class on the Three Grand Dames of mystery. Too bad three of her own grand dames (Henny, Laurel, and Miss Dora) decide to join her class and throw off her mojo. And, of course, there are the usual campus politics to deal with. Oh, and that's before all the dead bodies start piling up.
I go back and forth on the Death On Demand books. I mostly enjoy them but the character of Laurel, Annie's mother-in-law, drives me absolutely batty. I can deal okay with scattered people in real life but I don't enjoy reading about my main characters dealing with them as well.
