Breathtaking artwork, heartbreaking storyline, delightful and uplifting at one moment, then uncomfortably realistic and "too real to deal" at the next turn. Both very mature and very childish in all the best ways, this shows what first love, dealing with what morals and religion you want to lead your life with, and growing up is really like with visceral images and simple, sad prose.

I read this nearly 600-page book in one sitting--the coming-of-age story is beautiful, sad, funny, intelligent and haunting. I loved the illustrations. Quite an accomplishment for Craig Thompson.

I am still thinking about this book and still not sure of my feelings towards the story. I definitely did find the story compelling in many ways as the characters grew and developed.
I will get back to this soon.
