I didn't think it was necessary to revisit Katrina and Orlando, especially in this manner, but I appreciated the emphasis on healing.

This book was a tearjerker if nothing else. This was lengthy but well written. I wasn't sure if I would be able to finally exhale with joy, but I did. Losing a child is stressful and causes a wide range of emotions. It was something that Katrina and Orlando had to go through, and I'm so glad they were able to reconnect.

Love Conquers All

Katrina and Orlando had been through hell. They lost their baby girl at 11 days old and in the process they lost each other. They stopped talking, started resenting one another, and avoided each other all together. The love of family and the love they have for one another can overcome those obstacles, but they have to want it bad enough. Are the willing to give up, or work to conquer their love?

This was a great read. Writer really took my emotions for a ride and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Love the growth seen with the main characters!

Highly anticipated book for me this yr thus far! I’ve got hooked on Rilzy work by a reader friend of mine and I get excited when she has new releases! Orlando and Kat was going through it tough in their marriage and Rilzy wrote the book with so much emotions that I couldn’t help but the shed a couple of tears while reading! When couples go through things especially the magnitude that both Orlando and Kat went through, it’s important to lean on each other & help one another get through the bad! Unfortunately, both were to blinded by the pain that they were going through that they didn’t see that their spouse needed them just as much. It was thought to read about their story but it shined a light on couples who go through tragedy and still somehow find a way to survive and fight for each other’s I loved the book! I’m waiting for Jasmine book now cuzz whew!

This was a hard book to read. The pain that Katrina and Orlando were going through was so tangible, my heart was aching for them both. But honestly, I think this is one of my favorites from Rilzy.

Not going to be for everyone...

This is not going to be for everyone. Heck, it is barely for me. But I appreciated the complexity and realness to this story of loss and heartbreak and healing. And the epilogue left me gagging for what’s next with this Johnson family, I can’t believe it ended where it did.

Anyway, the premise of this is that Orlando and Katrina (protagonists of Book 3) have lost their beloved baby to SIDS and the grief has torn them apart to the point that it seems there’s nothing left to salvage in their marriage. This book is the complex story that explores whether healing and reconciliation is possible after a couple loses everything.

This book has a couple of hard button issues. The first which pretty much no romance fan likes is cheating. There are definite shades of cheating here and if you are in the hard pass camp when it comes to this element in your romance, you may not be here for it. I am usually a hard pass in these things but this story feels very real and very not black and white and it’s not at all light and breezy but rather gritty and ugly and painful before the healing comes. I’d say this reminds me a little of Beyoncé’s Lemonade album- and I think the author intentionally parallels that with the plotting of this. The other thing I’ll say is that this is a heavy content warning romance- the trauma of the loss of a child, the breakdown of a marriage and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome are all front and center themes here. If you may at all be triggered, be mindful because it does get dark.

What I respect about this author is that she doesn’t shy away from difficult subjects and from difficult realities. And just because people can be ugly and imperfect and prone to stupidity and mistakes, it doesn’t mean they’re undeserving of love. I love this series so much and I can’t believe I’ve run out of books to read in it.
