I felt as though the book was quite rushed at times. I feel like there was a lot of points of views and it got confusing to keep up with each characters storyline. It also left me feeling as though some plot lines were unresolved or half-baked. I often found myself searching for the significance of a plot line ( The debate about whether the ship has a soul ) or point of view (mostly Sister Faustian) or character ( Father Giovanni )
To me, the book felt like the starting chapters of a novel rather than a complete story in itself.
That being said the storyline of Mother Reverend carried this book for me. I was invested so heavily in her journey and I love every part of that adventure. Without that plot line I’d likely have rated this story a 2.

At first I felt like I was reading a collection of subplots, with no main plot and no protagonist. I guess that's one way to keep your book short. The plotlines did weave together eventually, in a gripping way, and the pace picked up at a certain point.
I never did feel like the book chose a main character, though. I'd have preferred to feel closer to one character rather than bounce between so many POVs in such a short work. The ensemble cast are likeable though and I appreciated how several of them manage to have character arcs in a short space.
