"We shouldn't be brutal just because the universe is."
Sisters of the Vast Black was a thoughtful character study of the nuns who are stationed on the living spaceship Our Lady of Impossible Constellations. The story unfolds slowly but is absolutely worth a bit of patience. I really liked the questions Rather grapples with, like untangling how organized religion has been used to endorse colonialism, and the book left me with a lot to mull over. If you like thoughtful, character-driven reads I would definitely recommend Sisters of the Vast Black.
Moderate: Blood, Death, and Gore
