I saw the movie years before reading the book. Both were good. I enjoyed reading the book AFTER seeing the movie- usually I do the opposite.

YA book that was later made into a Disney movie. The book was somewhat uneven, but in a charming way, and the payoff was pretty good. Interesting read, if only to see how a book that turned into a Lindsay Lohan flick reads.

This book is way different than the movie but I honestly prefer it.

It's so fun to see how far YA has come in this world. These days, I wouldn't touch this book with a ten foot pole. But YA was seriously lacking when I was a middle-schooler/teen, and I had to read books like this. But anyway. I read this with the intention of seeing the movie, which I just never did, and now never will.

On page 26, I found out I don't like drama queens, but to give it one last chance, I finished the chapter.

I have discovered so much of myself by reading this book. Sadly yet happily, I will not discover any more of this book since I have developed a strong moral conviction against this protagonist, no matter how quirky or eccentric or endearing she is.
