Another basic book where the female main character clearly hates other women and has a lot of internalised misogyny. Uses a lot of “not that kind of girl” type statements and slut shaming. The main love interest, Peter, is unbearable especially SPOILERS——————————
when he literally cheats and lies to her with his EX GIRLFRIEND. And she forgives him still. She just seems very much a pushover and has no depth which is disappointing coming from a female author.

It is better to watch the movie bc it goes more in depth but reading the book also shows stuff not shown in the movie.

Watched the movie first when it was first released on Netflix. Now I’m finally getting around reading the books. It’s good for a YA read. A cute, heartwarming romcom. I relate a lot to Lara Jean, the main character.

I appreciated that this was innocent without being dishonest about teenage girl thoughts.
Unfortunately, I found it hard to root for Peter, though that may be due to the voicing of Peter being very lacklustre in the audiobook I listened to.
As an oldest sister, I liked the perspective of the middle sister.
I enjoyed the story, though so much of the ending felt dissatisfying.
