I'd call this a book for teens, but it's also a fantasy novel. A teen girl, Andrea, is given a device which can transport her into a maze-like world that responds to the emotions of one who is in the maze. When two of the girls who "haze" Andrea become trapped in the maze, she must rescue them. The novel has obvious themes about friendship and dealing with anger, but I think it works for young adults. An interesting aspect of the book is that it deals with female bullying, which, sadly, is becoming more prevalent.
I had to read this for a Children's Literature class in university, and I enjoyed it. It was predictable, but it still managed to keep me wanting to read more.
