♡ Spooky Setting
♡ Friends to Lovers
♡ Found Family Vibes

This book was everything!  I knew I’d like it but wow this was seriously so good.  It was entertaining and the spooky vibes of it were immaculate.  And the formatting was absolutely stunning on the inside.  I loved all the illustrations at the top of each chapter.

The characters were honestly so addictive to read about I loved how they interacted and I loved the friendships.  Sal and Pax were so cute together and I really enjoyed their vibes.

It was really nice to see the mental health rep too, and how well it was written into to the book.

Thank you to the author, NetGalley, Scholastic, and Chicken House Imprint for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Reading the synopsis of the book I was expecting a spooky Halloween book with a romance intertwined, however it was more about this slow-burn romance that blossomed between our two main characters Sal and Pax. We learn very early on in the story that Sal’s house is known to be haunted which is why everyone avoids it like the plague. But then towards the end the only real plot twist is in fact it’s not haunted and Sal and his sister just pretended because it was an easier reality than working through the grief from their father dying . The romance is a sweet but I was hoping the story would delve further into the coming-out aspect. Instead Sal’s family just accepted is and we’re happy. It felt very surface-level and a lot more important queer topics could have been discussed. Overall, this book was an ok cozy romance read.

Thank you Chicken House and NetGalley for the eArc!

This was a quick and cute read. Salem like most teens is haunted by much more than just what everyone in town believes is haunting him. The misfit bunch of friends fits together so nicely, I truly couldn’t dislike a single one of them. I think all of us can relate to the struggles of wanting to fit in, loss, and figuring out who we are. My only complaint would be that I wished it was longer so there could be more elaboration in some parts.

3.5 This was a fun book. Really enjoyed the characters. It was very cheesy, didn't focus on the haunted house as much as I expected and had several aspects that I couldn't help but question why they were there. Regardless I enjoyed reading it and found myself smiling. Oh except the smoking. WTF? they are kids that should know better in this day and age, why was that a thing? Gross.

Cute and wholesome!

The Other Ones was not exactly what I expected - I thought it would lean more in the paranormal aspect, but in the end it's more of a found family contemporary YA romance.

It's also a grumpy/sunshine romance, in the most hilarious ways sometimes. I loved Pax - adorably weird and happy, completely indifferent and oblivious to what the world thought of him. His chemistry with Sal was perfect in every scene!

The resolution of the book was a bit anti-climactic, since the hidden truth was not as dramatic a plot twist as I anticipated, but the multitude of cute scenes near the end more than made up for it!

I received this as an ARac from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute coming of age story with bonus ghosts and a big surprise twist. I loved all the characters and thought they were portrayed very well and I genuinely enjoyed the plot- the big twist was very well done and definitely added to the storyline.
