Not too bad. The denouement of the plot ultimately tried to force a bunch of gravitas that it couldn’t really pull off and ended up being kind of corny.

The book picks up speed after the first quarter and the story becomes more and more exciting and mysterious as it progresses. Towards the end of the book, one suspects the outcome, only to be surprised with a result that one really would not have expected. 4,5 stars.

This is a slow burn of a book. When debating whether to write a review, I almost forgot what this story was about. The title is just so generic that I had to pause to remember. This is definitely a book with a bit of a twist, but if you read a ton of thrillers maybe you could guess some of what is going to happen (I didn't). It was an enjoyable read!

Slow start to this one, but definitely worth it when the pace picks up about halfway through and then never stops. Anyone who has read other horror books or watched horror movies can easily figure out the main plot, but there were at least a couple of solid twists at the end that made it all worth it.

Another deftly told slow burn from Taylor, The Reaping does not disappoint. This clocks in as a fairly quick read at around 175 pages, and I was swept along from the beginning. Doesn’t quite reach the heights of Sweetheart, Sweetheart, but still a master class and a must read for Bernard Taylor fans.
