I continued listening to the shorter episodes of Phoebe Reads a Mystery podcast, in which Phoebe Judge reads stories that are in the public domain.

The story is good but the mystery isn't all that special—Sherlock only seems to deduce the location of the de-thumbing & the true purpose of the machinery the engineer was hired to fix; most everything else is already known.

Really sad because I was enjoying this! Just wasn't really a complete mystery... Not a satisfying ending

As a fellow mechanical engineer, I rather appreciated this tale as gruesome and almost scary as it was! Definitely on the darker side of Holmes’ cases.

This is the first story in the series that is kind of creepy. I love the combination between mystery and a scary atmosphere. Reminds me of the stories I liked to read as I was studying English. I enjoyed it immensely
