i understand that this is a romance but…these people have zero personality other than being in a relationship. i feel like they were set up to be interesting & have complex family/friends relationship but all of those plot points literally just disappear as soon as the relationship begins which is what happens in one last stop too. for a book with so much sex/sexting….it’s boring. it’s just the same thing over & over again.

So, I have a lot to talk about. First, I didn't like this book, and I keep wondering how I kept reading it. First, The writing style is not my favourite, I only liked the overall banter between Alex and Henry and I their exchanged emails.
However, I didn’t like the setting of the story, very North-American with very set on a liberal perspective which I totally dislike and have major political divergencies with. I was bored and annoyed because of the White House setting and its nosy politics of "capitalist democracy" of the great United Stares of America.
Moreover, I also think Henry’s and Alex’s relationship was rushed and there was no build up to the moment, no angst. I would’ve liked more if we could see more interaction with them besides the sex scenes?! Lastly, even though this book is adult contemporary, it certaintly read more like a YA with some ok written sex secenes. I was deeply disappointed by the story/scenario/narrative/perspective and I had high expectations for this one.

Listen, the fastest way to make me read something that otherwise I wouldn’t be into is to convince me I’m missing out on a potentially great show or film that is based on a popular book.
The trailer of the film that is based on this book did that, thank very much.

And ok I have to say, probably I’m grateful that I read the book before watching the film. But it was meh at best. Kids fan fiction, closed door everything, huge chapters, too political at times and the writing was weird. With weird jump in the pacing and timeline, other times just boring word vomit.
I mean it’s cute for a light read but come on nothing close to holy grail material let’s be real for a sec.

I’m still watching the film tho.
