I'm guilty of thinking why someone who's a victim of domestic violence can't just ask for help, so this book is definitely an eye opener for me. I couldn't say I understand them(I think no one but people who'd experience it can understand), but it makes me remember that you can never judge people just by what you see, and how we sometimes only see the things that we want to see, and ignore or doesn't realize something even when it's right in front of us.

Just like the first book this is a bit of a confronting read, however it is done well and will have you wanting to read more in this series. Lindsay is the good sister from book one, she got all the praise growing up, followed in her farther's footsteps with the military and having a great career in it, then it all changed after she met and married Elliot, he isn't the man she thought he was and no mater how good she is it isn't enough. You can not only feel for Linsday with what she is going through but the fact she starts to work out who she really wants to be as a person. I can't wait to read the next book as I am getting very addicted to this series.

This was a very well written book detailing abuse. It was very hard to read at times, but it gave an inside look at what many forms of abuse can do to a person. This book may be a trigger for some people. Very thought-provoking and heartbreaking for the victim.

Lindsey & Noah

Ok so we learn of Lindsey from Jessie's story because they are sisters. And yeah ok Lindsey was blindsided about what was going on with her sister, because her father made it that way. So yeah I wasn't really mad at Lindsey about that, she was a kid too.

So now Lindsey is married to a weasel I won't even type his name he is that bad. Abuse isn't even the word to describe what he does to this girl. Domestic violence for me isn't something I have had to deal with and I had the same thoughts I am sure a lot of people do. Why she doesn’t just leave? But seeing it from the victim’s point of view I have a whole new outlook on it. She really felt like she couldn't leave he would find her and kill her. I really like he would have too if he wasn’t in the public so much.
I can't understand how no one noticed how off she was when she came to visit with her sister. The phone calls alone would have made me start to question her. That part of the story I think is what I have a hard time with.

Oh Noah wow he isn't the manly man like Will who can swoop in and steal the show his quiet understanding is really amazing and I think what Lindsey needed in the end.
But yeah I can't say what I wanted to ... I didn't want to give anything away but that one part blew me the hell away!!!! But it helped everyone so I guess I can see past that.
How angry Lindsey was after really had me having a hard time understanding that. I think she need to have some Therapy as soon as she was away to help her really deal with everything. I also thing she felt like she thought she deserved what she had to go through because she wasn't there for Jessie. But really how could she be. She couldn't go up against her father and not become what Jessie did in the end. So yeah that was a lot for this review but as you can see these books really stick with me and I end up yapping. So I will end this now. READ these books!

I have to say I loved see the 3 personalities of Lindsey! In book 1 is a bit high and mighty but in this book we see the broken side of her and then we see the strongest side of her. You really get to see her changing as life changes for her. Noah is the good guy and I always love the good guy! He is ready to be whatever she needs at any given time.

This book shows us how someone so strong can be broken down by someone's words and actions. I love the relationship between the sisters once they both figure out who they are without everyone controlling their lives. And there is a HOLY CRAP moment that I did not see coming! This book was 90% drama but not in a bad way. I was an emotional rollercoaster ride!
Can't wait to start Gretchen's story!

Narration was great, so glad they haven't changed narrators!

This is a very well written psychological thriller IMO. This reader was nearly always only one heartbeat away from terrified. It has some important moral and sociological content and was far from an "easy" read but one I found engrossing

Good read

This story definitely pulls on your heartstrings as we see Lindsay deal with domestic violence. She has lived with it for years and been in denial about exactly what has been happening for years but is reaching a breaking point. When she gets to come visit her sister, Jessie, without her husband for an extended period of time things start to change a little bit. She gets to see a different side to herself that she hasn’t seen for years. This story could trigger people with the domestic violence and abuse that takes place. I thought that the topic was handled well and takes on some of the questions of why the victim stays. I enjoyed this story and am looking forward to more in this series.

Lots of typos and missing words. The part about "the man" felt like an easy way to get out of a dead end. But overall it is a good, touching story.

This book started off strong. The first half kept me on the edge of my seat and I was feeling all the emotions. But I thought the second half kind of dragged on. Domestic violence is a central theme of this novel, with some explicit scenes, so use your judgment if that's something you can read. I worked in a DV shelter through college and I did really feel like this book gave a powerful voice to victims of domestic violence and offered a sense of hope. And, while some scenes were hard to read, I did not feel like the author exploited trauma for the shock value. It was written very well. I just wish the storyline was a little more beefed up the second half.
