i think the ending is very realistic, however i'm sad that punpun doesn't know how much of a help harumi was to mama punpun, and how harumi will never know that mama punpun was punpun's mom

The circle of life
This entire series brought to us the many ups and downs (mostly downs) of Punpun's life and I was waiting for the end of the series in anticipation, so I'd learn how things ended for him. The white covers looked a bit omnious, but after a few unexpected twists, I feel like the story ended just where it was supposed to: at its beginning, strengthening the message that nothing truly has larger meaning than the subjective one we assigned to it.
Likes
I loved the illustration style, as always. The story brought a few surprises that stirred up emotions, like a good story should. Maybe I'm just subjective because the story ends here, but I liked how some things got resolved and some just didn't in this volume.
Dislikes
I understand that some threads should be left to the imagination of the reader, but I felt a bit confused at times, like there was a bit too much that was untold that should be read between the lines. I guess you can't absorb this fully without at least one re-read down the road.
Audience
The story touches many tough topics, like depression, self harm, and suicide, so I wouldn't recommend it to those who are not at a stable place in their life right now.

I didn't give every volume 5/5, but I'd say this one deserves it. It's a strong finale to the series and will leave me thinking about it for a while for sure.

partí leyendo el manga pensando que iba a quedar full depresión y no fue así afortunadamente jfkfk aún así creo que es muuy bueno, el dibujo 10/10 precioso todo y la complejidad de los personajes también, porque odié muchísimo a punpun y que penita aiko u.u onoderateodio

I believe that every now and then, everyone will come across a piece of media that will always stick with them. I believe that Oyasumi Punpun (Goodnight Punpun) will have the effect on me. I read 12 of the 13 original volumes in the span of two days, and I'm having difficulties figuring out what exactly write about this, because it's hard to sum up. All I can say now is that this is a grounded, tragic story held up by some absolutely gorgeous yet outlandish visuals and descriptions, as well as some of the most realistic and harrowing depictions of depression and regret that I have ever read. Never has any media given me as much grief as I felt finishing this. But despite all of this, I cannot deny that Oyasumi Punpun is one of the best stories I've ever read.
I can't recommend this unless you understand exactly what you're getting into reading this. It is extremely heavy and tackles some extremely difficult topics in detail. If you are reading this, please look at the tags on MangaDex or look at other reviews to get an idea of what this story is.

À peu près un an plus tard, je referme ce dernier volume, toujours aussi ébahie et comblée par la maîtrise narrative d'Asano. La puissance et la force de ses personnages me jettera toujours par terre. La finale est toujours autant une claque de génie.
Ce fut un plaisir de relire cette série dans un meilleur état d'esprit, la tête sortie du brouillard et les idées plus claires. J'y ai lu bien plus d'espoir, de beauté, de couleurs, de chaleur et de lueur. Ce dernier volume résonne toujours en moi, cette fois-ci de façon plus positive. Comme si mon regard sur l'oeuvre avait su évoluer avec moi, grandir, vieillir, vivre ses trucs et apprécier autrement, apercevoir d'autres détails, recevoir les lignes autrement, les interpréter différemment. Une oeuvre qui se reçoit différemment selon son état, qui s'apprécie autrement selon le moment où l'on s'y plonge est une oeuvre qui me semble plus que réussie. J'ai hâte de relire la série plus tard après avoir vécu autre chose et voir comment je la percevrai, ce que j'en retiendrai, ce qu'elle m'apportera à ce moment-là.
Sacré Punpun n'empêche...

Inio Asano explore les troubles et les parts sombres de l'être avec une telle poésie et une telle précision que cela en est complètement déstabilisant.
J'ai à la fois envie de vous dire de vous tenir loin de tels mangas et à la fois envie de vous dire que de ne pas les lire relèvera de la folie...

Leí la saga por primera vez hace unos 6 años aproximadamente. No la he vuelto a leer hasta ahora. Mi yo de hace 6 años, de los 19/20 se sintió terriblemente apabullada al leer esta obra. La absorbió y la identificó como suya. Ahora con unos años más, recién cumplidos los 26, me acerco y vuelvo a acabar esta obra, con mucho menos miedo y apabullamiento pero con más perspectiva, menos abrumada. Quizá ahora entiendo más cosas o quizá ya las he superado. No sé. Pero ostras, me sigue molando cantidad.
