Delightful is the wrong word, but it's what I'm going to use.  This was a delightfully creepy, disturbing prequel novella to Drowning in the Deep, and I'm so freaking happy I finally read it!  I loved learning what happened to the Atargatis first hand, even though, the readers knew the outcome from the book.  It's (again I'm going to use the wrong word) nice to have seen what these folks all went through.  Horrifying, but it gave me a glimpse at what all happened.  And since it's been years since I read Drowning in the Deep, it was "fun" to dive back into this world and story.

This was an enjoyable, fast paced novella, and it drew me in after the first 30 mins or so. It felt almost like a whodunit (with the killer being mythical sea creatures) and has made me even more eager to read the main book!
