I was contacted directly by the author and offered an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed his debut novel, but this one fell flat for me. I DNF at 25%.

The writing is good but the characters are intolerable to me. As soon as I heard "not like other girls" I bowed out. Classic perfect rich girl who no one understands and sleazy "I'm going to get the girl" man. Not my cup of tea.

This was a really great fact paced thriller that was really cleverly plotted. Why is a girl standing at the end of a pier with two men holding guns in her face threatening to kill her? With witnesses claiming that the girl wants to be killed is boastful about it. This story follows Natalie and her plot to get Raymond Grants money for this moment but what is the bigger picture?

So I had some predictions about what Natalie was planning to do but I was proven wrong because the backstory, the PI's involvement what Grant did I would have never have guessed this was a great read. I loved the era, the strong female character putting a misogynist, sexist man down. I loved the PI and his story the police and Natalie. The ending was the best thing ever the pier and how all of that went down was so clever and so heart breaking at the same time. I really would love to watch this if it was made into an adaptation.

Thank you to the author for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I would highly recommend this book you won't regret it.
