I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It's not often that the what ifs of history get explored in such detail. Some of the chapters spent more time discussing how realistic the alternative outcome of a battle might have been whilst others jumped quicker to the lasting effects of such changes in history, but this didn't affect my overall enjoyment. Chapters tended to be harder to understand if I didn't already have some knowledge of the events as, even if they were explained well, too many new people and events became hard to keep track of.

If im being nit picky, the one thing that annoyed me about this book was the American centrism. There was a tendancy to always look at the consequences of alternate events for the US whilst not necessarily considering other countries or continents to the same extent. Also, the frequent use of "we" and "us" meaning US citizens was quite jarring as a non-American reader.

Keine alternate history, und oft etwas zu kurz gefasst.
