Kiera Johnson, one of the few Black students at Jefferson Academy, loves playing video games. But after dealing with racist gamers, she decided she wanted a game that focused on Black Excellence...so she created SLAY. Hundreds of thousands of Black gamers love SLAY. But one day SLAY is on the news because a gamer was murdered. Now Kiera has to challenge the media, her friends, and her family.

The story moved along at a quick pace, and although things turned drastic...it didn't seem forced. Good representation of multiple voices and experiences (although Kiera was the main voice, there were about four-five other points of view added throughout the book). Sometimes the writing felt a bit preachy, but overall it was good.

Slay was such an engaging read. If you love Black girls doing cool shit, this is the book for you. The plot twist had me hollering in my room. SO GOOD!

Too many inconsistencies in the plot and world building.
