A very different style book than I've ever read before. The story and characters were not bad by any means but I was never left with anticipation forcing me to continue reading. If I had nothing else on my reading list I would pick up another book by Flynn.

Picked this up in the airport. Nice read if you like spy thrillers.

STORY
Fast-paced, methodical, and a wild ride, KILL SHOT delivered well as a book 2. I must admit, I wasn't expecting things to roll off of AMERICAN ASSASSIN as much as they did, and I loved it. It wasn't an episodic book. Things from AMERICAN ASSASSIN were wrapped up and I enjoyed the crazy plot this novel had to offer.
As always, the story was entertaining and the characters each had a great slot in the plot. A few complaints in general would be occasional telling, not showing (mostly regarding Victor/Chet's background), and some bouncing around of names (last name vs. first name vs. fake names, not all within reason).
The ending was so. Good. So, so, so good.
THEMES
The themes were slightly less bold than AMERICAN ASSASSIN but still there: the moralistic questions regarding killing people and the line of work it takes to protect a nation. It was handled well and served the story well. Really makes you think and I enjoy those kind of themes.
And speaking of themes and heartstrings, I adored the ending to this novel.
CHARACTERS
The cast of characters are all very 3D and motivated. I'll be listing personal opinions in bullet points because, why not?
-- Rapp actually isn't my favorite main character but he's too good not to enjoy.
-- Greta is so annoying, my dudes.
-- STAN HURLEY IS ANNOYING AND TERRIBLE BUT OH SUCH A FAVORITE.
-- Victor's ending was just. Golden. AMERICAN ASSASSIN paid off so well in this book.
-- Dude, shoutout to Rapp and Hurley both recalling Beirut because! GAH!
--Kennedy is so good.
-- STANSFIELD DESERVES A HUG FROM HIS GRANDKIDDOS.
CONTENT
17+. Heavy swearing. A lot of vulgar talk, mentions of prostitutes, mentions of sex, a sex scene that fades to black. Heavy violence, descriptions of death and injuries. Mentions of drinking and smoking, not greatly described. I'm probably forgetting more content warnings.
OVERALL
A wild ride that I loved and I'm so glad there are more books with these assassin dudes.

Enjoyed this much more than the first one, though that might be because I was more invested in the characters. Solid action, and again, I wanted heaps more of the supporting characters.
