I liked the Stories, of course they aren't necessarily scary since they're very old and our concept of "scary" has changed over the past hundred years. But they are chilling and great for someone who wants to read something fun for Halloween but doesn't want to be scared. It's kind of like watching a horror movie from the 90's. It probably won't be too frightening anymore but it's nostalgic. I loved the illustrations, I loved the vibe and it fit perfectly for Halloween.
