Wanted more fun or more paranormal but it was enjoyable. Pretty good.

This book never really started for me. I thought thereā€™d be a stronger paranormal element or a building of tension as the ghost club continued week by week. For me there was no mounting tension. the plot just essentially fizzled out it was well written though

I thought this was going to be more Stranger Things type weird than crazy uncle weird. But crazy uncle weird ended up being much better, and such a great vehicle to tell this story. There are parts that truly wrecked me, and I found myself laughing out loud a few times. The Yellowbird siblings are deserving of their own series! A few scenes felt jammed together, like the night at the marine park, but Davidson did a wonderful job of using even those lesser moments to serve his beautiful story.

This is a true blending of a bittersweet coming-of-age novel and horror novel, with moments that will make you recoil.  But it is mostly a coming-of-age novel, with some heart-breaking and though-provoking scenes.  If that suits your mood, this book will suit you.
