3.5*. Still not great, but notably more coherent than earlier volumes.

Same review as Vol. 1: I'm a huge fan of Hopkinson's work, so I was definitely looking forward to this series even though I waited until the issues became graphic novels. I knew nothing of the Sandman universe, but I still found Hopkinson's take to be thorough and great as a standalone series. Overall, the artwork is incredible and her distinct writing style and knack for storytelling come clear through. I won't go into plot points to avoid spoilers for the whole series, but I will say for those of us who want more stories about Black cultural and religious traditions, this should be right up our alley.

This book was SO good. Everything about it. I’m euphoric about the stories, the art, everything, and I can’t even.... aaaaaaah so good. Thank you. Six stars. Since this is the final book in the series, it probably deserves that I try to be more coherent here, but I don’t know how to do that right now. I just love how this series feels true to the Sandman universe at the same time as it feels fresh and unique.
