The allegory felt heavy handed even for me. I also didn't super love the whole idea of 'people who are worshiping other gods in a good and true way are worshipping the christian god' Like. I get it Lewis.

even without the racism this would not have lives up to other books in the series i honestly recommend skipping this and making up your own ending

I read this as a child, and then as a senior in college. Very different experiences, but both good ones. I was able to appreciate the depth and complexities of Lewis more as an adult, but it is still a fascinating story.

Um, excuse me? They fucking DIE??!!! I mean I guess it makes sense, because the new Narnia was veeeerry obviously Heaven.
Of all the Narnia books, this one felt the most heavy with Biblical imagery and motifs. Which typically doesn’t bother me, but some references were blaringly obvious. The ending was fine, to be honest.
Like, I get it, it’s heaven.
But I like that it’s a happy ending, though
the battle is lost.
BUT, the racism was not cute at all. I know it’s a product of its time, but reeaally? Brownface? I don’t know.

i don’t think there is a book out there who’s last 3 pages are written an beautifully as the last 3 pages of this book. there are some harsh comments on here about this book. but to each their own. narnia will always mean something to me, will always have something to teach me, and will always be there when i need to return. let’s go further up, let’s go further in.

This was an incredible ending to this series.
Even though I am no longer a practicing Christian, the “true” story behind this one and the character of Aslan will still continue to emotionally move me. The thought of a good God who rescues and has a heaven in place which is full of good and better things is a comfort and it was beautifully shown in this ending.
(I did have to cringe at what was possibly some racism at the beginning…)
