the closest we will ever get to a true 21st century fairy tale. bones mckay builds a remarkably fantastical world that blends the whimsy of a childhood abandoned with the horrific ennui of living a life without love. row’s journey is a hero’s epic unlike any i’ve ever encountered, and this story managed to unlock a sort of childlike innocence in me as i read. i do believe that chrysocolla is my favorite secondary character i’ve encountered in fiction, her presence a benchmark for row’s odyssey. a truly spectacular story for anyone who has ever had trouble facing their reflection, learning to love, and accepting loss and the past.

Honestly the only reason that I didn't finish this book sooner is because I didn't want it to end. This was a beautiful story that I'll probably have to buy in paper
