I so badly wanted to love this book..the first chapter started with some brute force violence.. I love meat cleaver scenes. Then we keep getting glimpses into a demon stuck in hell that is devouring souls (violently), so skin can regrow on him. All great ideas and very entertaining.
However, I feel like the story was written in botches and pasted together as afterthoughts, like putting together a puzzle. In the beginning, we get the feel that the two main characters barely knew each other. Then we find out so much more..from her side of the story (in the very beginning), we get his side of the story (very end), and they don't line up at all.
Then the end really confused me. I get what the author was going for, but I guess I'm not tracking what shift of reality could have made that even close to possibly happening. There's some violence, and overall the stories are cool.. As the demon eats souls, we get shorts on each victim's sins and wrongdoings. So the book isn't a complete loss.
