This was a pretty decent follow up to the first volume. I really like the idea of that cool witch card game they were playing, but I found the overall plot a little too predictable, and I'm a big Harvey fan so seeing him get his heart trampled on hurts. The art style, and just the entire aesthetic of this series is absolutely STUNNING.

It's been two years...are you coming back? You can't leave us hanging like that. You're so fun!

Terrific sequel! Was the plot reveal a bit obvious? Sure. With the number of balls Thompson effortlessly keeps in the air from the last volume to this, though, that’s not really something that bothered me. I’m reading this for the characters (all on point) and the hijinks (also present and accounted for). Oh, and Veronica Fish’s top notch art. Seriously, why is she not on more books? I don’t know that there’s a volume 3 coming, but if there is, I’ll be waiting.

Sabrina: Something Wicked did not disappoint! As with the first one, the story and art are an absolute delight. I'm sad there aren't anymore issues in the series. I had so much fun in this world; I don't want it to end. This is devastating!

While a serial killer stalks Greendale by night, Sabrina tries to help Ren and Radka undo the curse that afflicts them...

The first volume of Kelly Thompson's Sabrina was great so I was all over this one when it was released.

It's great how Kelly Thompson weaves elements of classic Sabrina and her more modern incarnations into an interesting take on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. There is teen angst, a love triangle, and other teenage shenanigans interspersed with witchiness. Given that I've read a fair bit of classic Sabrina, I should have known who the villain was from the start but I didn't.

The Fishs' art really sells the book for me, minimalist with some echoes of classic Sabrina but darker and more modern. The color palette is moody and subdued and light on computer effects. This looks like any number of 1990s Vertigo books at first glance.

My only real gripe is that the whole thing went by a little too quickly. I think that was also my problem with Thompson's first volume but I'm too lazy to go back and check.

Sabrina: Something Wicked is a fun read for teenagers of all ages, particularly those into witchcraft. Four out of five broomsticks.

This was a treat. It was a little bit too much “omg. I’m so busy” but I think that is part of the teen angst angle.

The art and story in volume two, as in the first, continue to be top-notch as Thompson and the Fish develop some story lines, such as the Ransom twins Wendigo problem, and bring others to a seeming close. We're introduced to the witch game, Savoir Faire--battle via magically conjured Tarot concepts--and watch Sabrina still sit the fence on the Ren vs. Harvey question. Comics as pure pleasure!
