Odd book. I liked that it kept you in suspense but something felt untrue about it. I do like the plot point dealing with mental health but I have never seen it portrayed in that way in a book. It was deep and heartbreaking but I also feel like it was used as a gimmick too.

The book started out right away capturing your attention with some mystery. It was a little far fetched as they moved along through the story. Then, I got to the end and I was SO disappointed. I felt like I read and became invested for nothing. Easy to read and I liked all but the ending, so I gave 4 stars, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend this.

On a level somewhere between zero, and indescribably irritating, this book is so much closer to indescribably irritating that it’a infuriating.

The general storyline is that a nurse has finally cracked it as a writer. Her book has gone huge. It’s been picked up as a film. The works. Then, all of a sudden, a kid rocks up on her doorstep. He claims to have witnessed something, and is scared of the police. So, she goes on the run. Because. Reasons. Oh, and the story unfolds in the same way as her most famous book.

It is beyond stupid. Because you don’t go on the run. You call the FBI. Or the state police. Or someone significant. Or... something. You don’t go on the run, do you? You don’t. Nope. No you don’t. The only reason you go on the run, is to stop the book ending after 15 pages.

There’s a nice twist in the tail, but you have to guess there’s something coming, because otherwise it’ll stretch credibility so far beyond breaking point, that you’ll spend the whole book thinking “Oh come on.”

It started off good, but the “twist” was completely predictable.

Exciting read

This book captured me right away. I am from MN, Bemidji specifically, and it was great to hear reference to some familiar towns. The story is thrilling and heartwarming. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have read a few of the bad reviews on this book since I finished reading it. Maybe it’s because I’m not a picky reader or I just enjoy the ride instead of being overly critical of a book, But I really enjoyed this one. I finished reading in just two days. I honestly didn’t see the twist coming and it left me saying “what in the h*ll is happening” would definitely recommend reading this book!

This was a somewhat entertaining listen/read if not very predictable. The crazy woman plot of thrillers is sometimes over-done and this book over-did it. There were a few plot lines that just ended without revisiting them like Willow and the other girl in the cemetery?? I'm still not sure if Willow as real or another figment of the main characters imagination. Or the girl (Shila?) who picks her up with Curtis and then loans her the blue Camaro- what happens to Shila?? While the author does an excellent job of setting the stage and building beautiful scenery, all of the characters fell short and I didn't feel a connection to any of them. They were contrived and not at all nuanced.

I did not see it

Maybe I'm unaware . It took me to the end to understand but I enjoyed being in the dark. I could not imagine how it wou!d end. Don't want to say more for fear of giving hints but I liked the story and the characters
