Probably the most inspiring book I’ve ever read. What a beautiful man and beautiful life!

One of the best autobiographies I've read. I probably underlined more sentences in this book than any other book, period. Should be required reading for anyone participating in any kind of social movement—or perhaps just anyone living in a democracy—or just everyone.

This is must read book. Not only does it provide an historical insight into Mandela's life from his own perspective, it offers inspiration for all fighting for freedom. Throughout the book, and particularly in the final chapter, you discover what freedom truly means, and the sacrifices it takes to achieve it. One of the best books I have read.

A long read but it was engagingly enough written that it never dragged. I found it a clear and easy to follow introduction to the history of apartheid and the struggle to end it.
