No Offense is the second book in the Little Bridge Island series. This book could be read as a standalone. This book was ok for me. This book is told from dual points of view from Molly Montgomery and John Hartwell.

Molly is a librarian and John is a sheriff. Molly finds an infant in the libraries bathroom and John meets her when he's doing the investigation. They start to have feelings for each other while find the missing mother. There is also someone breaking into houses and stealing stuff. This person is known as "The Highschool Thief."

John is looking for the culprit, and Molly does her own investigating. During the investigations some things happen and they end up arguing over what the other did.

Can the find the baby's mother and the Highschool Thief? Can they get back together or will it tear them apart for good.

Well, this book was better than the first book in the series, but not by much. The cast was a bit more tolerable.

DNF. Enjoyed the first book, but I don't like these two characters at all.

I don’t think this book was very good but I got hooked.

Why does anyone read romance? For me, I do it to feel like a squeelly little girl because I never got into one direction or Justin beiber. I also read it more fundamentally for a distraction from reality. love to me, in any form is such a gorgeous thing to read about.

Back to the book. Did it distract me from reality? Honestly, yeah a little bit.

Here you say, but LargeReadingEgg, why did you only give it 2.5 stars? Well, idiot, I gave it 2.75, but good question. Meg tried to do so balancing act of writing a corny romance book in 2020 about a man who is a cop and a (kinda) woke librarian.

I don’t think it worked well. Especially with crime mysteries and romance. Rooting for the cop to catch the bad guy just doesn’t do it for me anymore. And it was weird having the librarian be democratic/middle when most librarians I know are communists. I still did finish the book because I found the chemistry between the couple cute and I liked how they navigated or more like sidestepped the miscommunication trope. Meg Cabot, my dear, you will always have a place in my heart, just not this book.
