This was a good solid book. Easy to read, but left me with lots to think about. Alan Alda seems to get invited to give speeches all the time. So this book is basically an expansion of or reflection on the speeches he's made at funerals and graduations, etc., over the years. And it all circles around his definitions of "the meaning of life." Good stuff. He's a neat guy. He'd be fun to have dinner with.

I didn't finish this book. Huge disappointment after his entertaining memoir. Each chapter in this book centers around a graduation speech he made, and what in his life led him to give that advice. It pretty much was an old man saying "Listen to me. I'm wise." I just found it kind of annoying.

So many sentences and paragraphs I took notes of.
I think overall, the world would be a better place with a few more people who think a little bit more like Alan Alda.

Wow!! This is such a fantastic read. I listened to the audio CD on the way to work, and I got to listen to Alan Alda reflect on his life and some of his speeches that he wrote. He also notices that it's important to do "less talking" and "be helpful." He has a few graduation commencement speeches too. Very uplifting! Thanks, Alan!
