DNF'd after the vomiting debacle. I just couldn't stand the writing anymore. Read other reviews for more in depth explanations of the problems, but damn, there was nothing to root for with these characters and their relationship. Very one dimensional.

This is a flatter version of Red, White, and Royal Blue. The author doesn't understand how to write reactions so they just don't. Funny or important things are said or done but it just skips to the next scene so nothing is impactful. The dialogue is kinda weird to me too, the mc says things that people don't really say. The love interest is sweet but a little flat beyond one detail and the romance is so short its jarring (im not sure they even really know each other). Their dates started off way serious with almost no consideration for the huge power imbalance.  The friends are just a Greek chorus with very little nuance.  Overall, its just fine. It was a good book to listen to while cleaning and packing for a vacation but its not an all-consuming story.

This was an easy read, and it only took me a couple hours to finish.
Carter is broken up by his long term boyfriends and meets Prince Edgar of England while setting up for Edgar’s speech. The two hit it off and they learn about each other’s families. Carter learns what it takes to be a royal, and how important this relationship is for the LGBTQ+ community.
Written in first POV, it was a lighthearted easy read with a miscommunication trope (near the end). A great book to read while in a slump and just want something that isn’t difficult to follow.
Miscommunication trope, enough to make me sigh, but I finished the book.
