I can see the reason why this is so loved. For it's time, and even some aspects of it for the modern day is really appealing. There are some parts that haven't aged well, as can be expected for an 80's book. But it was fun

Fantastic Young Adult book with a strong female heroine. This was the first Fantasy novel I ever read, and I continued to read all of Tamora Pierce's other books. The Lioness Quartet is meant for teenage girls, as is The Immortals and The Protector of the Small series. Her Beka Cooper Series was slightly more advanced, and I enjoyed reading all of them.

Lovely young adult fantasy from the 1980s. Though here the decade is not so apparent, I had to look it up.

Alanna is such a great character. I love girls like her, strong and stubborn without being rude.
This was a quick read and a great start to the series. I'm looking forward to reading the next book.
