It took a while for the story to grab hold of me, but when it did, I managed to plow through to the finish. Some of the themes were a bit alienating, or I felt like I was missing out on some obvious symbol, but the general story was gripping, so I did really enjoy it, until the end. Because I was enjoying the book, the ending really grated on me. I won't spoil anything, but I really felt like there wasn't a resolution, and it was the kind of book that I already was uncertain of, so I ended up googling it to see if I had missed something, or if there was some critical analysis that I could read that would turn the subtext in to plain old text. I honestly don't know if I would read it again, or recommend it, but I am glad that I read it.

I really struggled to get into this one if I’m honest. Admittedly, I was probably too distracted to give this book the time it required, and I ended up finishing it without actually understanding what happened. It’s getting one star for now, but if I give it a proper (re)read some other time, I’ll be sure to amend the rating (it required).
