Yummy totally delicious candy comic book.
Eighteen year old intrepid Bee has decided to bike her way across the continental United States. When she finds herself waylaid in a roadside motel, she encounters a dude who enjoys altering motel art. Many hijinks ensue.
Bee reminds me of Nancy Drew and Harriet the Spy, but this is that archetype VERY grown-up. Be not deceived by the approachable and friendly illustration style (or young protagonist) - there is a LOT of adult content in this story. Relatively graphic sex scenes (although I really dug the way Bee handles her sex life), pill popping, illegal activity of many types, asshole off-duty military personnel... The list goes on.
Brightly colored engaging pictures, really attractive and fun book design, appropriately handled body image and sexual assault themes... This is one of those comics I wouldn't mind having on my shelf for all time.
