The biggest issue I had with this book was the amount of French with no translation. It was better than the previous ones (equal to The Bone Season) it ended on a Cliff hanger, so obviously I wanna know what happens next haha.

I am unspeakably disappointed
Ms Shannon is writing this story like she is still a 19 years old first time author
I am begging Bloomsbury Pub to hire a fuckin editor and to have a shred of outline drawn for this clusterfuck of a seires
The plot is inconsistent and non-cohesive, the cast AFTER 4 NOVELS AND 2 NOVELLAS is not estabilished, the wolrdbuilding is sloppy and lacks any clear aesthetic or sense of identity
The foreshadowing is, i am afraid to say, pathetically naive…i saw the second dreamwalker coming immediately. And im SHIT at predictions
Ms Shannon wears her references as well as i did with mines at 16 writing fanfiction during class hours when i was bored. Operation albion? References to bears? Honestly why did u even bother to try and be subtle just say u r gonna use the arthurian legend to try and lend some sense of profundity to this mess cause there is nothing to guess here…its so superficially done its like it was written in NEON LIGHTS
Finally: i would like to immediately and decisively dispell any delusion any english speaker may have that their language be immune from the issues of the gender binary
English does not have a neutral title to refer to women either: yall use ms and mrs too, in reference to marriage state so take a chill pill.
The betrayal of Arcturus truly was the last drop, when i knew we could not save this mess: the whole series is a ONE TRICK PONY following the formula abduction-rescue attempt-betrayal
Honestly this series has been ongoing for a decade…its time someone starts to write it like that means anything.

i.......how did i not realize the rest of this series wasn't out yet? the fifth book doesn't even have a title let alone a release date. i am going to throw myself into a ditch.

great fantasy series though, you can really feel the author's writing style maturing as the series continues.

WOW....I almost don't even know where to begin. I loved being in Paris and watching Paige as she worked with the Domino Programme as well as the Parisian syndicate. I loved seeing her work through her traumas and hurts and become a stronger person for it. I loved the development (finally) of Arcturus and how important a role he played.

I loved the "heist" and Versailles and so so much more of this book.

But the last 80 or so pages have left me extremely rattled. Betrayal, SEVERAL twists that I wasn't expecting and definitely didn't see coming. Confusion on who actually did what in the last handful of pages. Relief for less than a split second before more concern and heart-break.

Samantha Shannon went all out on this and I cannot believe I have to wait for the next book. The only reason this book isn't 5/5 is I feel like the breadcrumbs that I knew were there but couldn't figure out were too ambiguous. I wish they had been a little more solid so that I could have at least kept up with them instead of them flying over my head and me just shrugging and being like "oh well, I know that's important but because I don't get it, I really don't care."

Definitely, 4.5/5 though and I want the next book NOW PLEASE.
