trees, leaves, seasons, rhyming
On the last few pages this book also elaborates on each of the things a leaf can be and do, making it a nice beginning science lap sit story to share.

Love Dabija's glowing illustrations and how Salas, in rhyming couplets, shows all kinds of things a leaf can be:
"Tree topper/ rain stopper/ skin welter/ bat shelter"
Author's note at the end for more information on each verse.

Beautiful and simplistic poetic language. Inspiring to young readers to see how versatile a simple leaf can be.

This is another sweet little book that was recommended by Read Aloud Revival (Sarah Mackenzie). It has fun, vibrant illustrations and easy-to-understand wording. My kids enjoyed talking about the seasons and all the different things “a leaf can be.” The only criticism I have is that there’s a lot of really great information about the various “roles” of leaves in the very back. I wish that information had been interspersed throughout the book instead so kids could learn as they go. My kids (5yo & 3yo) enjoyed this book and recommend it!

This book is lovely, with beautiful pictures and a nice rhyming story about leaves. The only drawback for storytime is that some of the words are a bit strange. For example a leaf can be a "skin welter", which I guess means that it can be poisonous.

The many things that leaves are and do are described in two word phrases. I like the illustrations. Some appear to be inked leaves pressed on paper. Others have an almost ethereal spring feeling. Includes: Four page addendum describes in greater detail about those phrases. Glossary. Further reading.
