The story took a long time to get going, and the MC
spent most of the book being self absorbed and lying to everyone she cares about. It seemed like she was aware she was making bad choices but she didn’t care enough to change until the very end. I was disappointed that after she realizes how much she cares for Sam, she still goes to the gala with Nico because he was persistent and Sam wasn’t answering her texts or calls.
The MC’s friends and family were all much more likeable, and I’d rather read about them.

First of all, if the boy baking extravagant lovely desserts isn't your first choice, why?? Anyway, I have mixed feelings about this book. Fair warning, there are a lot of references to Harry Potter, and while there are vague references to JK Rowling being a TERF, it's never really addressed.

For the most part, I liked Tessa and her friends. The characterization was pretty good, and the rom-com aspect of the story worked well for the setting. There were just some references throughout that didn't really sit well with me, particularly with the HP stuff.

Overall, it was a cute rom-com, though! Perfect for the summer!

I sighed and clutched my kindle to my chest when I finished. Happily Ever Afters is THAT type of book in all the best ways!!!

Elise Bryant wrote this YA contemporary romance in such a beautiful balance. The sweet, gooey romantic moments aren’t so off-putting as to be childish or saccharine. The “real life” tough moments aren’t just filler for conflict motivation; they’re handled tactfully while still holding true and realistic for a young adult’s perspective.

I grew to love each character, and I felt as if each were developed fully over their respective arcs. If only all high schoolers were as lucky to have Caroline, or Sam, or Lenore, or Theodore! Also, Elise Bryant, can we have a Lenore spin-off?! If only for more OOTD descriptions!

If you’ve somehow stumbled across this book in your search for your next read, add it to your list!
