Het eerste deel van het boek zat ik er redelijk in , echter toen ze terug in de tijd gingen vond ik het langdradig worden. Ik zat er toen niet meer in. Alhoewel ik wel benieuwd ben hoe het in elkaar zit heb ik toch besloten niet verder te lezen in deze serie. Het is schijnbaar toch niet echt voor mij :)

This has been on my TBR shelf for an eternity. I procrastinated because the blurb called it a “sweeping epic.” And that always sounded more ambitious than I felt up to reading. But it turned out to be a cozy armchair comfort read. Your basic historical fiction. Characters were a little vanilla, and centers on the story of one of seven sisters adopted by a rich Swiss tycoon who passes away and sets them all on their little journeys to discover their pasts. Admittedly a little contrived and not super realistic, but I still enjoyed it. The history part for Maia, Sister #1, flashes us back to Brazil at the time of the building of the Christ statue. It seemed well researched and had a decent love interest with a happy ending. I enjoyed it enough that I’ll probably continue in the series.

This wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be as I'd heard good things about it. It follows the story of Maia, whose adoptive father suddenly dies, and her journey to find her biological family. I enjoyed the story being partly based in Rio de Janeiro as I've been there. It jumped back in time for sections of the book for her ancestors. It just felt a little stilted and the dialogue felt wrong somehow.
