A young girl and her family prepare for a dangerous journey to a new land as refugees.
Minimal (yet powerful) text accompanies stunning illustrations to show the immigrant experience. Share with older children (6-10).

Possible spoilers (?) This is such a beautiful and poetic book. The story is such a complex one, but the author and artist manage to do it with very few words. The artwork is gorgeous, using a dark color palette to portray the fear and sadness the main character feels, then transitioning into brighter colors near the end to illustrate hopefulness.

Such a beautiful book! The author’s note brought me to tears as I think of all of the refugees in our world.
