This book isn't perfect, but I still loved and devoured it hungrily. Finding out afterwards she is (was?) part of Radiolab made sense - the structure of this book is implausible in the modern era where we google everything and there are no spoilers, but I appreciated the art she took with the structure and I personally liked the way she wove in her personal life. Lots of subtle poignant moments that make you think and even better, just a roaring read.

Delightful! Another creative nonfiction blending memoir and science/history. Perfect fun distraction for me right now. Chaos rules. Don’t idolize people. Fish don’t exist (actually). Dandelions are weeds to one person and medicine to others.

Beautifully written, if a little hard to get into in the beginning, but by the end I was fascinated. I listened to the audiobook - Lulu Miller is a fantastic narrator, as you would expect from a radio professional. It's pretty short, too, at just under 5 hours.

This book is the perfect size for a bite full of reading sessions. I listened to the audio, for reference.
Lulu Miller didn’t get to me emotionally until the topic of Unfit and the women Anna and Mary entered the topics of the book. At first, I felt bored of how revered the man, David Star Jordan, was to the author. I get tired of men, generally, and reading about them and their accomplishments.
When Miller introduces the dark past of U.S. involvement in eugenics and eugenics programs, and stated the vast numbers of sterilized people, especially BIPOC people, robbed of their ability to procreate… the tears fell off my face.
